Royal Caribbean seeks dismissal in Wiegand lawsuit

Royal Caribbean has responded to a lawsuit that was filed by the family of the Granger toddler that fell to her death from a window.

Royal Caribbean has formally submitted documents to have the lawsuit dismissed. They maintain that Chloe Wiegand’s grandfather, Salvatore Anello, knew that the window was open when he raised Chloe to it to get a look outside. The filings call Anello’s actions irresponsible and reckless, and Royal Caribbean says they have surveillance footage showing him leaning out of the window before holding her up.

It’s not clear when the lawsuit will be heard by a judge. Anello is still facing a charge of criminal negligent homicide in Puerto Rico.
