Twitter @KatieSowers

When the San Francisco 49ers take the field on Super Bowl Sunday, Assistant Coach Katie Sowers will make NFL history as the first female and openly LGBT coach to ever be part of the title game, but did you know that Sowers actually graduated from Goshen College?

Although, she is originally from Kansas City. Her career thus far has been successful. She spent 4 years with the Atlanta Falcons before joining the 49ers past two seasons. She is part of and offensive coaching staff that boosted the team’s offense to 4th overall this season.

She came out as openly gay ahead of the 2017 season. In an article from Outsports in 2017 said “The more we can create an environment that welcomes all types of people, no matter their race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, the more we can help ease the pain and burden that many carry every day”.

I think the appropriate term is ‘it’ not she as we have no idea what it actually is.
