One person killed in fire at former Park Jefferson Apartments in South Bend

One person died in a fire at Prosper Apartments (the former Park Jefferson Apartments) in South Bend.

Fire crews were called to the complex around 6 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Investigators from the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit and the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office were also called to investigate.

It is believed the blaze began in the kitchen of one of the apartments.

There were no apparent signs of foul play.

An autopsy on the victim will take place on Monday.
