Piece stolen from South Bend Museum of Art returned

UPDATE: Officials from The South Bend Museum of Art say the art piece, entitled Welcome Knives, has been returned.

ORIGINAL STORY: The South Bend Museum of Art is asking for help in the return of a piece of artwork stolen this past weekend.

Someone walked off with a piece titled Welcome Knives, which is one shoe from a pair. That’s according to a post on the museum’s website.

The shoe was made by Chris Francis, and was part of an exhibition of his work. ABC 57 News reports the piece was stolen sometime between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday.

Museum staff and police are reviewing surveillance video. Anybody with information about who took the piece of art is asked to contact South Bend Police.

The cleaning staff probably threw it away; it looks like junk!!
