A petition to save Indiana Beach has gathered more than 20 thousand signatures in just 24 hours.

The original petition sought 15 thousand signatures. That was quickly changed after a huge initial response. By Friday afternoon there were 27 thousand names on the petition.

The theme park in Monticello closed on Tuesday after more than 90 years.

Former employee and fan of the park Dustin Sprunger started the page at Change dot org, in the hopes that someone might buy the popular Indiana destination and keep it open.

The future of the park and its attractions remains unknown. You can find the petition here.
