An investigation into possible wrongdoing involving prescription medications is underway inside the St. Joseph County 911 Dispatch Center. The investigation involves accusations that a dispatch employee was providing medications to co-workers. St. Joseph County Police detectives gave been conducting interviews regarding the alleged activity and expect to wrap up their investigation in the coming week.
95.3 MNC received the following information regarding the investigation from the St. Joseph County Police Department:
On Tuesday February 25, 2020, the St. Joseph County Police Detective Bureau received information from PSAP 911 Dispatch Center Executive Director, Ray Schultz of suspicion that a PSAP dispatch employee was providing prescription medications to other dispatch employees. A County Police Detective began interviewing dispatch employees Tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday afternoon after completing some initial interviews, the detective consulted with a member of the local DEA joint task force. It was decided that because there was no evidence of the involvement of a licensed physician or medical provider, that St. Joseph County Police would maintain the investigation.
The St. Joseph County Police detective continued interviewing employees of the Dispatch Center on Thursday and Friday. The investigation is still on-going and no further information will be released at this time. Our detective anticipates completing the investigation on Monday or Tuesday.
