Elkhart Pipe Bomber sentenced

An Elkhart man has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for making destructive devices.

According to court documents, it was late 2017 and early 2018 when Lee Underwood, 28, made at least five to six pipe bombs while using methamphetamine and other controlled substances.

Federal prosecutors say the pipe bombs were thrown out of a car and remained near a busy intersection for several weeks.

On several occasions, Underwood fled police, including once when a passenger in the vehicle he was driving shot at a police car that was chasing him.

Needs to be in longer than 51 months. The Underwood brothers put people at risk when running away from police.
