Berrien County’s chief public defender passes away

Berrien County’s chief public defender has died.

WSJM reports that less than two weeks before he was expected to exit the job to take the same role in Kalamazoo County, 40 year-old Christopher Renna died of a heart attack at Spectrum Health Lakeland.

He had left work that day saying he didn’t feel well. Renna was appointed Chief Public Defender in August of 2018.

No funeral details have been announced.
