DNA evidence leads to arrest of Elkhart man in 20 year-old cold case from Indy

DNA evidence has led to the arrest of an Elkhart man for a 20 year-old cold case in Indianapolis.

WSBT reports the case was the murder by strangulation of 38 year-old Arthur McPhaul in 2000. DNA evidence related to an arrest in another case in 2018 led police to arrest and charge 54 year-old William Swain.

A database also matched his fingerprints to DNA found at the Indianapolis crime scene.
