Dowagiac Union Schools will be closed beginning March 16 through April 3, 2020.

Some children will be forced to be home alone during this time due to their parents work schedules.

The Dowagiac Police Department will conduct welfare checks on children who reside within the city limits of Dowagiac and are staying home, if requested. Please advise your children that a marked Dowagiac Police Department patrol vehicle and a uniformed Officer will be conducting the checks.

Please include each child at the residence name, age, parent contact and address. Also, if you would like this checked at a specific time we will do our best to accommodate this however cannot ensure the exact time. Again, this is only for children staying at a residence within the city limits of Dowagiac and only at the request of parents.
