Bomb Squad called to detonate pipe bombs discovered inside Detroit Avenue home

The South Bend Police Bomb Squad was called to a home to detonate a pipe bomb found inside a home.
The call came to St. Joseph County Police came in around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, from a home in the 19000 block of Detroit Avenue.
The South Bend Bomb Squad was also dispatched. The bomb squad safely and successfully detonated the device shortly before 5 p.m.
The individual suspected of making the pipe bomb had previously lived at the home.
However, at the time of the incident suspected individual was already detained in the St. Joseph County Jail for an arrest stemming from a domestic incident at the home this past weekend.
Following the detonation of the device and the issuing of a search warrant, detectives discovered a second similar device.
The bomb squad was preparing to retrieve that device from within the house to inspect and detonate, as well.
