Officials set up COVID-19 testing and information locations for Amish community

(Ashley Wilkerson/Elkhart Truth)

Early on the County formed a response team to help strategize ways to connect to the Amish community and even met with leaders to determine what their needs may be. Now they are operating and setting up buggy drive thru locations where tests can be administered.

Elkhart County Emergency Management Director Jennifer Tobey tells WSBT that they already have locations operating in Wakarusa and Middlebury and will soon be set up in Nappanee and Millersburg. At the drive-thru they will be able to get any information they may need and even be tested if they are showing symptoms.

Tobey also says the plan is to reach out to LaGrange, Marshall, and Kosciusko counties as well about similar setups.
