Lucchase’s in Elkhart closed for good

A big loss for the Elkhart community as Lucchese’s Italian Restaurant is closed for good after nearly 40 years.

Though the final decision was made this past weekend, the owners had hoped a member of the next generation in the family would take over. They even tried finding a potential buyer.

In the end, the owners tell the South Bend Tribune it was a combination of rising costs and the forced shutdown due to the coronavirus that finalized their decision.

Family members tell The Tribune it’s a mix of relief and sadness, but they are grateful for all the friends they’ve made along the way.

Keep the Lucchese brand alive by returning to your roots. Open a Lucchese Deli downtown. Elkhart will support you.
