Coronavirus testing expanded for the Amish in Elkhart County

Elkhart County officials have set up a coronavirus incident response team to make testing available for the Amish community.

County health officials say they’ve received a number of questions from the Amish community, who have concerns about the pandemic and are expressing interest in testing options. WSBT reports that Beacon Health Group is working with the county to identify the areas of greatest need, such as Nappanee and Millersburg, where new mobile testing sites have been established.

Detached as the Amish are from much of society, officials say it’s even more important to make sure the community understands the information and options.
