There will be an increase in Aggressive Driving and DUI Patrols in St. Joseph County.

The St. Joseph County Traffic Safety Partnership (TSP) is upping patrols due to an increase in traffic incidents involving both aggressive and impaired driving, which can also lead to an increase in reports of road rage.

The increase in patrols also come as Indiana may soon relax the “Stay At Home” order and reopen the state, meaning there will be a surge of vehicles back on the roads.

The effort began this Friday, May 1 and will last through Sunday, May 31. Motorists can expect multiple weeks of high-visibility patrols.

Officers working overtime will be paid with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

The St. Joseph County TSP is asking drivers to be patient and responsible while driving by slowing down, increasing following distances and not driving distracted.
