Despite South Bend Mayor James Mueller’s critical comments regarding Governor Eric Holcomb’s “Back On Track” plan to lift stay-at-home orders for most and gradually re-open the Indiana economy, other local communities are supporting the plan.

St. Joseph County commissioners plan to abide by the guidelines, as does the City of Mishawaka. Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson has also released a statement that says the city will incorporate the Governor’s steps:

Mayor Roberson and his team, along with the rest of the state, watched closely as Governor Holcomb rolled out his 5 stages to reopening the State of Indiana on Friday afternoon. The mayor, his team, and department heads have been working on a get-back-to-work plan for the City of Elkhart and are ready to digest and incorporate the guidelines from the governor’s BackonTrack.in.gov plan.

In addition to the governor’s guidelines, Mayor Roberson will continue to work closely with other Elkhart County mayors and county officials, as he has been throughout this crisis, to ensure the City of Elkhart is doing its part to slow the spread of COVID-19 within Elkhart County.

“During this time, our focus has always been on safety. The safety of our staff and the public continues to be of the upmost importance. The governor’s guidelines give us a timeline along with safety measures that will be implemented into Elkhart’s plan.”

– Mayor Rod Roberson

I would like yo ask Mr Mueller with a mortality rate in Indiana of .00015 how do you justify NOT opening things up? I mean you goals is nobody gets sick? Say that out loud a few times and see how it sounds?

Why does South Bend elect these morons? May 4, 2020 at 10:29 am

These morons just said restaurants will “never” be able to open to full capacity until there is a vaccine. What idiots. These people need to read “the sky is falling” like all 2nd graders do and maybe they will see what idiots they are. There will never be a vaccine. South Bend keeps voting for these ridiculous mayors. Wake up South Bend. These people are morons and have no business running anything. Why is Mueller not telling us about ht hundreds and thousands of people in our city that are in hospitals on respirators and are dying? Because it has not and will not happen. Mueller has not a single fact he is basing his ludicrous “opinions” on. Is this what South Bend wants? A mayor that sounds like a toddle that did not get his way and supports his “opinions” with nothing but “his opinions”?
