The Democratic candidate for Governor of Indiana has selected his running mate.
Dr. Woody Myers said Friday morning that he’s decided to ask former State Representative Linda Lawson to be his running mate.
Lawson represented Northwest Indiana in the Statehouse for two decades and was the first woman to lead a caucus in the House when she was selected as Minority Leader in 2012. She was also the first woman on the Hammond Police force before entering politics.
Lawson says she was intrigued by the opportunity to help Indiana recover from the coronavirus.
Her selection will have to be approved by delegates at the State Convention, which will be held virtually on June 13.
