Police converge on University Park Mall, stop person armed with an ax

It was an abrupt end to the shopping day at University Park Mall, which closed early, late Sunday afternoon, May 31, due to a threat.

A small group of people arrived at the mall’s food court. One person was armed with an ax and was swinging it, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Mishawaka Police were already on scene, due to the potential of trouble.

The group tried to leave in a vehicle but police were able to stop the vehicle, ABC 57 reported.

There were no injuries reported.
