A suspect in a reported domestic dispute incident was arrested and credit, in part, is being given to a Cass County Sheriff’s K9 officer.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, to a report of a domestic assault in the 14000 Block of Hideaway Road in Porter Township.

Once deputies arrived at the location the suspect fled out the back door of the home into a large wooded area.

Cass County K9 “Faust” was deployed to track the suspect’s steps and found him hiding in the middle of the large wooded area.

The 28 year old Vandalia man was taken to Ascension Borgess Hospital in Dowagiac for injuries and then taken to the Cass County Jail on preliminary charges of Domestic Assault 2nd Offense with strangulation and Resisting Arrest.
