Man, 19, dead after shooting at Phillips 66 gas station in Benton Harbor

A 19-year-old Benton Township man was shot and killed outside of a gas station in Benton Harbor.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, at the Phillips 66 in the 1100 block of Pipestone Road.

A Good Samaritan took the victim, Taj Carter, to the hospital where he died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police are looking for the occupants of a red four door sedan who they say drove through the parking lot of the gas station and fired the shots which struck and killed Carter.
