LaPorte County Sheriff says to beware of police impersonator

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is warning drivers to be on the lookout for a police impersonator.

Police say that on Thursday morning a woman was stopped along U.S. 20 by a man dressed in all black, wearing a plain black baseball cap and mask with the Michigan City Police Department logo on it.

The man is described as a whie man, about 6’2” tall.

He had a light-colored Ford Focus or Toyota Prius with flashing red and blue lights. The woman said she believed the man to be fake after speaking with him.

The woman refused to give him her documents, and eventually, the man returned to his car and drove off.

Anybody with information is asked to contact the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.
