Elkhart fire crews battle blaze while en-route to 9-11 memorial

Elkhart Fire crews were en-route for a 9-11 memorial, on Friday, Sep. 11, when they discovered smoke coming from a home in the 1900 block of Roys Avenue.

On arrival, crews found heavy black smoke fire coming out the front of the home.

More manpower was sent while crews began battling the blaze.

A second home sustained exterior damage due to proximity to the original fire.

There was no report of any injuries. The fire was ruled accidental.

The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance.
