Elkhart woman sentenced for rash of cell phone robberies

An Elkhart woman who pleaded guilty to robbery has learned her fate.

Lashi Lewis, 20, was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, after she pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery resulting in injury.

She admitted to being involved in a scheme to steal cell phones from victims who had agreed online to meet up, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

Two of the victims were injured, including a 13-year-old boy who was still hanging on to his phone when the thieves sped away in their SUV, dragging him on the road for almost 30 feet.
