Elkhart woman gets 30 year sentence for first drug conviction

An Elkhart woman arrested with a large amount and variety of drugs was been given a multi decade sentence. 38 year old Jennifer Jennings reached a plea deal with prosecutors, following her arrest in April of last year.

When she was arrested police found 53 grams of meth, 37 grams of cocaine, 75 grams of marijuana, and (as described by prosecutors) “a cornucopia” of prescription drugs. The Elkhart Truth reports that since her arrest Jennings has told police she is grateful for her incarceration and hopes her time in jail can help her rehab and get sober.

Prosecutors are allowing her to serve out her sentence through an Indiana Department of Corrections drug rehab program.
