The number of people in the hospital for coronavirus in St. Joseph County are at their highest levels since late April.

County health leaders have told the South Bend Tribune it could get worse before it gets better.

Mark Fox, St. Joseph County deputy health officer, tells the Tribune there isn’t an obvious “driver of the trend”, but he did say the increase number of hospitalizations is not a result of outbreaks in nursing homes.

For the most part, nursing home residents are remaining in those facilities.
