The Salvation Army begins taking applications this week for Christmas assistance.
The organization decided to start taking applications a few weeks earlier this year, due to the financial hardships being faced by so many families this year.
The Salvation Army told WSBT that uncertainty about the coming winter also encouraged the decision. They say they typically see about 1,200 families, with about 2,100 kids seeking assistance. This year the additional variables have led to a lot of uncertainty about what they can expect.
Applications will be accepted at the Kroc Center each day through October 10th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
