South Bend boy, 5, praised for bravery while trying to fight off home invasion suspects

A five-year-old South Bend boy is being praised for his bravery after surveillance video shows four armed men in hoodies breaking into his house in the 500 block of South Grant Street.

It happened back on September 30th.

As the men flashed their guns, images show the boy fighting back, hitting the intruders, and throwing his toy trucks at them.

Investigators say it’s possible the child’s actions led the men to flee the home.

The suspects are still being sought by police.

Anybody with information is asked to contact Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP or 800-342-STOP or the South Bend Police Department Investigative Bureau at 574-235-9263.
