Blood donors now tested for COVID-19 antibodies at South Bend Medical Foundation

All South Bend Medical Foundation blood donation centers will now test for COVID-19 antibodies.

The antibody test helps identify and recruit potential convalescent plasma donors, who can in turn help severely ill patients recover from COVID-19.

Test results will indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed any symptoms.

Donors can expect to receive antibody results via email approximately 7-10 days following their blood donation.
