Weekend shooting investigations underway in South Bend

In addition to the 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed in South Bend early Saturday night, police investigating at least two other shootings that took place this past weekend.

On Saturday, just before 8 p.m., officers were called to the 1800 block of Fassnacht in reference to shots fired. When they arrived, they found one person shot. That person was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, around 10:15 p.m., officers were called to the area of Sunnyside and Madison for reports of shots fired. While en route, officers learned one person had been shot. That person was self-transported to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The South Bend Police Department Shooting Response Team is handling the ongoing investigations.
