Elkhart man rescued from northern Minnesota wilderness

34 year old Chori Rummel was dropped off in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for a week long canoe trip, but just one day in had to activate an SOS on his GPS device when he started to experience symptoms of hypothermia.

His rescuers say they had to break through heavy fog and snow, and thick ice that had gathered on the lake to get to him. When they found him he was wearing his last pair of dry clothes in a lightweight sleeping bag.

Rummel said he plans to try again, but will wait until sometime in the summer.
