South Bend man, 59, found with head trauma at Roseland bar victim of homicide

A 59-year-old man who died after a reported fall at the Filling Station Bar & Grille in Roseland was the victim of a homicide.

Clay Fire paramedics were called there just before 3 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, where they found Todd Youngquist of South Bend with severe head trauma and rushed him to the hospital.

Youngquist, 59, died on Oct. 22.

An autopsy determined he died due to blunt force trauma.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office released the following information:

On Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2:54 a.m., Paramedics from the Clay Fire
Department responded to the “Filling Station Bar & Grille” located at 52170 State
Road 933, Roseland, IN after receiving a report of a male who had been injured
as a result of a fall. Clay Fire Paramedics determined the male had severe head
trauma and transported him to a local hospital, where he remained until his
death on October 22, 2020 at 6:21 a.m. The male’s family was notified of his
hospitalization and is aware of his death.

A representative of the St. Joseph County Coroner Office was contacted and per
protocol, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit [CMHU] was activated and
is currently handling the investigation. The male has been identified as Todd
Youngquist, 59-years old and a resident of South Bend, IN.

This is an active and on-going investigation. An autopsy was conducted on
Monday, October 26, 2020 in Fort Wayne, IN. After the autopsy, a forensic
pathologist determined Mr. Youngquist’s cause of death to be blunt force trauma
and his manner of death to be a homicide.
