Two men arrested, suspected of church fire in LaGrange County

Two men who were arrested Thursday, Nov. 5, are now facing additional charges after police realized they were responsible for a church fire in northern Indiana.

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office says the fire at Rosewood Fellowship Church was reported around 6 a.m. on Thursday morning.

When investigators were searching security footage, they noticed a black Jeep was in the parking lot of the church around 1 a.m. It appeared to be the same black Jeep that Andrew Yoder and Michael John Wengerd were driving when they were pulled over and arrested for OWI later that day.

Items that were stolen from the church were found in the Jeep.

The two men now face arson and burglary charges.

The church sustained damages totaling over $500,000.
