U.S. Senator Mike Braun, who is among the Republicans running for governor, says marijuana legalization is “inevitable.”
He is referring to the change by the Drug Enforcement Administration to reclassify pot as a less dangerous drug. Braun is not fully in favor of recreational marijuana being legalized in the state but says he is open to medical marijuana becoming legal.
Governor Holcomb has said many times that he will not support legalizing pot until it is legal on the federal level.

It’s about time! It should have never been illegal to begin with. The entire “gateway drug” argument is stupid: Everyone who drives 95MPH drove 55MPH on the way there, so should we ban 55MPH? Is it a “gateway speed”?
People who support freedom should support legalization. Just like 16oz sodas, sugary snacks, alcohol, or tobacco, it is NOT the government’s business what you put into your own body.
It’s only a gateway drug if it’s illegal. When it’s illegal you have to go buy it from a drug dealer which puts you in an environment to be offered other drugs. When it’s legal, like say illinios, you don’t have to go buy it from a drug dealer. The legal dispensary isn’t going to trying to sell you other drugs. I know because I have been down the road of addiction. In the 1980s as a teenager I started drinking alcohol and smoking pot just like many others in my hometown did. At some point in my life I was in a house to buy weed when some dealer said hey I got some acid you wanna try this. Hey I got some coccinellids you wanna try some. Hey I got some crank you wanna try some. That’s why it’s a gateway drug. When it’s legal it’s no more a gateway drug than Budweuser or jack daniels.
