Officials with the Indiana Republican Party have released more details as they plan a caucus to replace State Rep. Christy Stutzman. Stutzman is stepping down to take care of her family business, leaving the task of holding a caucus to find her replacement.

The Elkhart County GOP will not be running the caucus, but its precinct committee members will be the ones voting for the replacement. They are also not going to be opening up to the public, as would normally be the case, for safety reasons. Instead, about 40 people will be part of the process including state party members, the voting members, and the candidates themselves.

They have yet to announce where the caucus will take place, but they are looking at venues in Elkhart County.
