Berrien County Sheriff honors two civilians for their effort to assist first responders

Civilian honorees with Sheriff Paul Bailey. (BCSO)

Two civilians have been presented with Certificates of Appreciation for helping law enforcement in Berrien County.

Sheriff Paul Bailey presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Civilians earlier this month to Jeffery Robinson and Douglas Disterheft.

This was in recognition of their actions on August 21 of this year when the two men entered murky swamp water in Pipestone Township after a vehicle crash. They were the first people on the scene and were able to determine that no one was in the vehicle, reducing the risks of first responders.
