Berrien County Sheriff’s Office receives donations to help purchase high-tech drone

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office has received donations to help them acquire a new drone with thermal resolution.

Honor Credit Union and Starks Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services provided funding for the Sheriff’s Office to acquire the EVO II drone from Autel Robotics.

The EVO II Dual that is valued at over $11,000 and comes equipped with thermal recording capabilities, allowing it captures a 360-degree view of a scene which will provide the ability for officers to find a suspect or missing person in low light situations.

The following information about the donation was released by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department:

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office has received donations from two local partners to help
them acquire a new drone with thermal resolution. Honor Credit Union and Starks Family
Funeral Homes & Cremation Services have teamed up to provide the funding for the Sheriff’s Office to acquire the EVO II drone from Autel Robotics.

The EVO II Dual that is valued at over $11,000 transmits the most crucial information back to the pilot and allows law enforcement to make informed decisions during some of the most stressful circumstances.

With the thermal recording it captures a 360-degree view of a scene which will provide the
ability for officers to find a suspect or missing person in low light situations.

Sheriff Bailey stated, “We are very grateful for the support of both Honor Credit Union and
Starks Family Funeral Homes to help us acquire this extremely useful tool. Drones provide a valuable resource for law enforcement and provide a great tool for us to continue to serve and protect our communities.”
