IU psychiatrist offers advice on how to mentally reset for 2021

An I.U. Health psychiatrist is giving guidance on how to mentally reset for the new year.

Dr. Anne Gilbert says it’s important to focus first on what you’ve gained, and express gratitude for family and friends. She adds doing things like yoga, meditation, or going for a walk can help as well.

For New Year’s resolutions specifically, Dr. Gilbert believes you should focus on a broad resolution, like being healthy or staying active. She says how you fulfill that goal can be different every day, so there’s no pressure.

Most importantly, Dr. Gilbert says we know how to stay safe and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
