An Elkhart teenager has been sentenced to 63 years in prison for a murder he committed when he was 13.

Alphonso James the 3rd, who is now 16, was convicted three years ago of killing 18 year-old Jaren Minies during a deal to trade an Xbox for a handgun.

The Elkhart Truth reports Minies was shot three times and died minutes later despite efforts by witnesses to get him to a hospital. James received a 55-year prison term for murder plus eight years for aggravating circumstances.
