A Michigan City man died after being struck by a car.

The collision happened just after 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, in the 3500 block of E. U.S. 12.

First responders attempted life-saving measures on Raymond Gaston, 57, who they found unresponsive on the pavement, but he died at the scene.

Police say Gaston was struck when he tried to remove an animal carcass from the highway.
