An Elkhart man was killed in a crash involving three snowmobiles.

The collision happened around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, on a trail near the intersection of Indian Lake Road and Topash Street in Silver Creek Township.

The investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office shows a 21-year-old Coloma man and a 38-year-old Covert man were traveling westbound on the snowmobile trail. Keith Webster, 45, of Elkhart, was traveling eastbound. Both groups were approaching a hill and collided. The Michigan men were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Webster was killed.

It’s not known if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor. Helmets were worn and speed is believed to be a factor, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
