A correction officer at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City died and another was seriously injured after an alleged assault.

Detectives with the Indiana State Police Lowell Post were requested to investigate the report of an assault around 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 21.

According to Indiana State Police, an inmate attacked the two officers in a common area. Both correction officers were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Michigan City where one correction officer was pronounced deceased. The second correction officer is in serious condition.

Tymetri Campbell, 38, an inmate at the Michigan City Prison, faces several preliminary charges, including murder.

    • “Campbell is serving 130 years in the Indiana State Prison after pleading guilty to three murders in a 2002 shooting in Indianapolis. … In a 2007 appeal, Campbell argued that the trial court did not properly take into consideration his remorse and his problems with drugs and alcohol when determining his sentence.”

So our society’s attempt to keep a multiple murderer alive has now cost an additional innocent life.

      How foolish!
