COVID-19 is the biggest cause of death in Michigan history

(Public Domain)

The COVID-19 pandemic is now officially the deadliest event in Michigan history.

That’s according to raw numbers published by M-Live in the wake of news Monday that the U.S. has suffered 500,000 deaths from the disease. Michigan has recorded more than 16,000 COVID deaths in the last 11 months. That’s a thousand more than the Influenza pandemic of 1918 and 1919 and exceeds the number of Michiganders who were killed during World War II and the Vietnam War combined.

In the last year COVID-19 has become the third-leading cause of death in the State of Michigan, behind heart disease and cancer.

On the up side, deaths from everything else are way down. In fact, the total deaths for 2020 were virtually unchanged from 2019 and earlier. I’m not sure how COVID killed so many people but didn’t drive up the annual deaths…

I have that same argument with my liberal son last night. What are your sources?

oh boy nothing like a copy and paste article:

“In the last year COVID-19 has become the third-leading cause of death in the State of Michigan, behind heart disease and cancer.”

So what about heart disease and cancer, are we going to shut down mcdonalds and fix the harmful chemicals we are eating that cause cancer? Nah

My walk away is that this proves (along with all the strict mask/closure states), that having businesses closed and making masks mandatory does not make a difference. If you look at the states that do vs don’t and even countries, in most cases it is the same and in some better without mandatory masks/closures.

This did become a casedemic. Obama was smart when the H1N1 was spreading in the US – he had tests stopped. The people went on with their lives, “social distancing” was 3 feet, and we got through that with no pomp and circumstance. This Wuhan Flu became so politicized that it hurt us in many ways. I just read an article that stated depressant Rx is up 600%. Suicides are prevalent — especially in the shut down states (like Michigan). That’s the stat that I want to find — 2019 vs 2020 suicides in Michigan.
