A Hartford City man was arrested after a recent high speed chase near New Paris.

Brandon Hochstetler, 43, allegedly refused to yield to allow a patrol car with active lights and sirens to get past him. At that point, he became the focus of police attention.

The Elkhart Truth reports speeds during the chase reached up to 110 miles per hour.

Hochstetler eventually stopped the car and tried to take on on foot through some woods, but tripped and fell.

Investigators say he admitted trying to run because of an active warrant.

Officers say they found a marijuana cigarette and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.
