Berrien Springs man, 21, hospitalized after crashing into a tree

A Berrien Springs man was hospitalized after he crashed into a tree in Cass County.

The collision happened just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 21,  in the 2600 block of Terminal Street in Howard Township.

The victim was traveling eastbound on Terminal when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, hitting the tree, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Howard Township Fire Department extricated Heiermann from the vehicle and he was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

It is unknown if intoxicating substances are a factor and it is believed that he was wearing his seat belt.
