You may see more police officers stationed near schools and bus stops this spring.

That’s because the Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership is ramping up enforcement to protect students going to and from school.

During the next couple of months, officers will be positioned along bus routes watching for stop-arm violations and unsafe driving behavior.

The overtime patrols are funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the state’s Stop Arm Violation Enforcement program.

Elkhart County joins more than 200 other agencies around Indiana for the spring enforcement campaign.
