The City of South Bend’s annual yard waste season begins next Thursday.

The program offers weekly pickup of yard waste, including grass clippings, brush and leaves, for a fee of $2 per month during the season.

The season will last through the end of November.

A 48- or 96-gallon yard waste bin will be provided to each resident who signs up for the program, and collection will take place on the same day as residents’ trash pickup.

To sign up, visit southbendin.gov/yardwaste or call 3-1-1.

The City is also offering an amnesty period during the month of April for its extra yard waste pickups. During the amnesty period, the normal limit of ten 30-gallon biodegradable bags or a cubic yard of tied limbs for a free extra pickup will be waived. However, residents are only allowed to request one free extra pickup for April.

To schedule an extra pickup, visit southbendin.gov/ywextrapickup or call 3-1-1.

Just because you don’t pay for it right then doesn’t make it free… South Bend, you are DEFINITELY paying for this one way or another.
