As the pandemic continues, Michigan is facing heightened domestic violence cases.
The Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence received 1,300 calls on its helpline in 2020 between January and October.
WSBT reports in the final months of 2020, the coalition received another 1,250 calls. In January, another 1,000 calls came through.
The coalition represents 73 shelters in the state of Michigan, and due to the pandemic, have had limited shelter space available.
