Elkhart to end moratorium on utility shutoffs and late fees

Elkhart’s moratorium on late fees and utility shutoffs will end next month, according to city officials.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the city will notify customers in advance of the change. The public health emergency in Indiana is set to expire on April 30, so Elkhart’s Public Works and Utilities are spending this final month informing the public about the change.

It’s hoped that this will give customers enough time to make the necessary payment arrangements and avoid any disconnection issues.
