From Benton Harbor, to West Virginia, to the pros: An area athlete has made it to the WNBA.

Kysre Gondrezick went in the first round of the WNBA draft last week, landing a spot on the Indiana Fever.

The team took her off the board with the fourth overall pick. WNDU reports that ESPN’s Mock Draft had her going in the third round.

Gondrezick is a 2016 graduate of Benton Harbor who also won Michigan’s Miss Basketball honor that same year. She counts South Bend Washington and Notre Dame basketball legend Skylar Diggins among her heroes, and Diggins congratulated her online after the pick.
