Black mayors to speak at Michigan capitol in Lansing to denounce election reform bills

FILE- In a Dec. 12, 2012 file photo, the state capitol building is seen in Lansing, Mich. Braced for a new era of divided government, lame-duck Republicans who have long controlled two upper Midwest states are priming last-ditch laws to advance their conservative agenda or to weaken the influence of Democratic governors-elect. The moves, which may spark lawsuits if they come to pass, would follow midterm elections in which Democrats swept statewide offices in Michigan and Wisconsin for the first time in decades but fell short of taking over gerrymandered legislatures(AP Photo/Carlos Osorio, FILE)

Black mayors throughout Michigan are joining together at the state capitol in Lansing to call on lawmakers to reject what they call new voter suppression efforts introduced in the state Senate.

Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad is helping lead the effort.

He, and other mayors, wrote a letter saying the call for reform in Michigan and other states is misguided at best, and, has the appearance of being a direct attack on increased voter turnout driven in large part by African Americans.

Muhammad and other Mayors will speak on the steps of the Capitol, Tuesday, April 20, to denounce the bills they say are a shameful effort to deny people of color their right to vote.

More falsehoods from the leftist mayors. The only reason to protest VoterID is to cheat, period.

Someone needs to tell these black mayors that their black constituents overwhelmingly (nearly 69%) support VoterID laws.

Tell me how you can operate in today’s society with out and ID of some kind and if you can do that you surely be able to get to the poles with an ID.
